Job summary

State of West Virginia Parks and Recreation seeks a lead forest superintendent for Kanawha State Forest. You will manage a 9,205-acre forest, with campground, concession, nature center, trails, and a public shooting range.

Responsibilities include staff supervision, budget control, and policy compliance. You must have a Bachelor's degree, two years of relevant experience including supervisory duties, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent paid experience in a park, natural resources related field, tourism, travel, or environmental industry, with one year in a supervisory role.
• Must have a valid driver’s license. May require Special Natural Resources Police Officer training and pistol requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead forest superintendent responsible for management, operation, maintenance and protection of Kanawha State Forest.
• Oversee staff, budgeting, contracts, and safety; ensure productive, lawful, and reputable operation of forest facilities.
• Collaborate with Kanawha State Forest Foundation and enforce policies, reporting, and customer service standards.
