Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture is seeking a General Laborer- Temporary to perform routine maintenance tasks under supervision. Responsibilities include planting flowers, assisting with painting, and general upkeep of grounds and equipment.

Preferred candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and basic knowledge of safety procedures. Valid driver’s license and completion of pre-employment testing are required. This is a temporary position located in Charleston, West Virginia.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Plant flowers and maintain flower beds.
• Assist with painting and general maintenance.
• Wash exterior and clean interior of vehicles.

Skills

Knowledge of standard safety procedures and practices

Ability to learn and adapt to Department rules

Ability to operate equipment relevant to area

Basic computer skills to maintain a timesheet

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
