Parks and Recreation/Kumbrabow State Forest seeks a maintenance-focused employee to perform diverse tasks across the forest, engaging with the public and completing daily operations. Responsibilities include general groundskeeping, equipment operation, and building upkeep.
The role requires standard high school graduation or equivalent, with substitution permitted for additional paid experience in a public recreational area. Regular weekend and evening shifts may be required.

Parks and Recreation/Kumbrabow State Forest Under supervision of the Superintendent, this employee will perform work at various workstation operations and maintenance tasks on Kumbrabow State Forest. Employee is highly visible to the public and serves the public through notification of park rules, registration, and resolving guest conflicts. Employee will assist other staff, and perform individual hands-on work in the daily operation of various park operations. Performs a wide range of maintenance duties including: trash and litter pickup; landscaping and groundskeeping including mowing and trimming; forest boundary and trail maintenance; forest fire control; cutting, splitting, and hauling firewood; snow removal; housekeeping and janitorial work; floor care and maintenance; washing vehicles; vehicle maintenance; loading and unloading supplies; moving and replacing appliances; and inventory of supplies. Employee will complete maintenance tasks on all buildings and structures located within the forest including historic CCC-era log structures. Examples of work include painting and staining; general carpentry; plumbing repair; electrical repair; stonework repair; roof repair; equipment installation; and toilet/sewage system repair. Performs monthly inspection of equipment. Assists with wildlife control issues. Performs all other duties as required. Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.
Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and the ability to organize and plan efficient completion of tasks. Ability to operate tractors, dump trucks, chain saws, mowing equipment, and other motorized equipment.
Employee will be available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and night shifts. Required to wear assigned uniforms. Must be licensed or eligible to operate a motor vehicle.
Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
Substitution: Completion of the tenth grade and two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience working in a public recreational area.
