Job summary

Palmetto Island State Park in Abbeville, LA seeks a maintenance technician to perform groundskeeping, custodial duties and minor repairs at park facilities and cabins. Tasks include mowing, cleaning, vehicle operation, and assisting customers with park information.

Qualifications

• No experience or training required to start.
• Ability to perform maintenance and custodial tasks across park facilities.
• Ability to operate basic grounds equipment and vehicles as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs corrective maintenance and repairs of park structures including plumbing, lighting, and vents.
• Mows and maintains park grounds; performs weed eating and litter pickup.
• Operates and maintains park vehicles, mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and other equipment.
• Repairs bridges, walkways; paints/stains structures; clears trails; maintains grills and fire rings.
• Ensures cleanliness of interiors and exteriors of cabins, group camps, lodges, bathhouses and meeting spaces.
• Performs custodial duties to maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
• Removes trash and prepares laundry for pickup.
• Cleans bathhouses, campground areas and day-use spaces; assists customers with questions.
• Provides park and local community information to visitors.
