Job summary

The City of South Padre Island is seeking a Parks Maintenance Technician for part-time work. The role involves performing semi-skilled maintenance, operating equipment, and assisting in landscaping, irrigation, and grounds upkeep across city parks and facilities.

Responsibilities include inspecting playground equipment and restrooms, mowing and trimming, painting and rust protection, and supporting safety standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and/or repairs parks playground equipment to ensure proper and safe operation.
• Inspect, clean and/or repair park restroom facilities.
• Inspect and repair irrigation systems including PVC fittings and sprinkler parts.
• Perform landscaping, planting, pruning, and maintenance of plants.
• Mow, weed eat, and collect trash across park grounds.
• Paint and protect park equipment, facilities and signs.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment by cleaning and checking tools.
