Job summary

Albemarle County is seeking a Regional Parks Maintenance Worker for the Northern District in Charlottesville, VA. This full-time, non-exempt role performs skilled grounds and facilities maintenance, operates equipment, and supports events and scheduling.

After-hours recall for emergencies and safety compliance are required. The department values a candidate with a high school diploma, a Virginia driver's license, and two years of motorized equipment experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Virginia driver's license.
• Two years of motorized equipment operation and grounds maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise seasonal staff, volunteers, and contractors.
• Coordinate daily park maintenance of buildings, grounds, fields, facilities, and equipment.
• Operate and maintain vehicles and snow removal equipment; assist with emergencies.
• Instruct staff on safety and proper equipment use per OSHA guidelines.
• Assist in budgeting and procurement for equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Perform grounds maintenance and minor construction tasks; mowing, repairs, painting, plumbing.
• Prepare for building and shelter reservations, athletic field use and special events.
• Other related duties as assigned.
