Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools is seeking a General Maintenance Worker II to perform routine semi-skilled repair and maintenance of county school buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role may require shift work and is designated as essential personnel, with on-site responsibilities during emergencies.

Responsibilities include painting, minor repairs, directing staff, replacing HVAC filters, and operating various grounds and shop equipment.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of materials, equipment, and techniques across three or more standard trades.
• Ability to supervise other employees and work with diverse teams.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs painting and minor repairs in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical trades.
• Directs assigned personnel.
• Replaces HVAC filters.
• Operates trucks, tractors, mowers, snow equipment, and related machinery.
• Uses standard tools and equipment of the trades.
• Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
• Performs general maintenance and custodial tasks.
• Assists with layout for athletic fields.
• Performs other required tasks.
