The City of Oakland Park, FL is seeking a Service Worker I - Facilities Maintenance to perform manual labor, assist in park maintenance, and support events. You will operate hand and power tools, help restore turf, and keep areas clean and safe.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a Florida driver’s license, and an Intermediate MOT work zone certification. Willingness to be on call, including nights, holidays, and weekends, is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus one year labor experience.
  • State of Florida Driver's License required.
  • Intermediate certification in work zone traffic control (MOT).

Responsibilities

  • Performs manual labor in loading/unloading materials for work orders.
  • Sets up for special events in parks.
  • Restores disturbed concrete, asphalt and landscape areas.
  • Operates and maintains hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Exercises independent judgment; seeks supervision when needed.
  • Maintains aesthetic of assigned areas (trash, cleaning, turf, trees).
  • Applies herbicides/insecticides per safety standards.
  • Inspects areas for maintenance and safety, including fields and sidewalks.
  • Assists with debris removal from canals, waterways, parks, and rights-of-way.
  • Supports other work crews as directed.
  • Responsible for opening/closing the parks.
  • Installs, maintains, and removes signage and speed tables.
  • Regular attendance to scheduled shifts.

Education

High school diploma or GED
Florida Driver's License
Intermediate MOT certification (work zone traffic control)
