Job summary

City Of Wheat Ridge is seeking a Parks Maintenance worker in Wheat Ridge, CO. The role focuses on turf care, tree and garden maintenance, irrigation support, and upkeep of city parks and facilities.

This position works Monday–Friday, outdoors in varying weather, with heavy lifting and safety considerations; you will assist with events and potential snow removal while contributing to community park quality.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be 16 years of age or older.
• Must possess valid Colorado driver license and pass background/MVR checks.
• If moving from a different state, Colorado license must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Experience safely operating a variety of hand tools, power tools, light and medium duty vehicles, chain saws, lawn mowers, weed trimmers and blowers is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
• Able to organize, prioritize, and record tasks and adapt to changing priorities and conditions.
• Customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate with fellow staff as well as members of the public.
• Basic knowledge of how to use computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Turf maintenance and mowing/edging.
• Tree watering and maintenance; garden/landscape upkeep.
• Assist in irrigation system maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintain structures such as facilities, athletic fields, fences, gates, bridges, drains, parking lots, trails, and signs.
• Inspections and general maintenance on equipment and facilities; painting, minor plumbing, stocking supplies, graffiti removal.
• Maintain records/reports as directed; trash pickup and general site maintenance.
• Watering, weeding, mulching, planting, and plant maintenance of various plants in parks and beds.
• Support events setup/cleanup and snow removal duties during winter events.
