Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) – Parks and Recreation is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I (S) to oversee repair, maintenance, and construction projects at state facilities. You will inspect facilities, supervise staff, review plans, and coordinate bid packages.

Typical schedule Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm with on-call rotations; requires ability to perform physical work, read blueprints, and move heavy objects.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge and work experience performing trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or auto mechanics.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural specifications; estimate materials for repairs.
Familiarity with building codes and regulations governing repair, maintenance, and construction of facilities.

Responsibilities

Develops and implements outside bid packages and monitors contractor work.
Liaises with local officials and regulatory agencies for facility management.
Supervises and evaluates work of staff and volunteers on projects.
Maintains records and prepares basic operational forms.
Provides hands-on supervision for routine construction, maintenance, and repairs.
Maintains stock control for tools, parts, and supplies.
