Job summary

McDowell County, NC is seeking a Land Records/GIS technician to manage public ownership records and edit parcel maps for the county's Land Records program. The role focuses on producing and updating ownership information within the tax data system and GIS.

The candidate will perform deed research, map editing, and data entry, while assisting the public and professionals with property locations, tax programs, and mapping needs. Experience in real estate or paralegal research is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with moderate experience in real estate, banking or paralegal research

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret and analyze deeds, surveys, civil actions, and other records to update ownership information in tax office data system
• Edit GIS data: code information, label maps, compute acreage, zones and parcel boundaries
• Update cadastral geodatabase with land splits, subdivisions and property adjustments
• Assign parcel IDs, right-of-way and acreage for assessing land value
• Assist public with queries on property lines, acreage and deed information
