Job summary

Sampson County's GIS Technician will maintain and update parcel maps to reflect recorded changes, working with the GIS Coordinator. The role emphasizes accuracy, research of deeds, plats, and land records, and collaboration with county departments.

Associate degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or related field (or equivalent education/experience).
Experience with ArcGIS Pro and GIS data editing.
Familiarity with deeds, plats, parcel IDs, and property descriptions preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update parcel boundaries based on deeds, plats, and other land records.
Research and interpret deeds, plats, surveys, and property records.
Create and edit parcel data using ArcGIS Pro and related GIS software.
Review parcel geometry, acreage, PINs, and attributes for accuracy.
Research and resolve discrepancies in property mapping and land records.
Collaborate with County departments (Register of Deeds, Tax, Planning, Addressing).
Respond to mapping questions from staff, surveyors, attorneys, property owners, and the public.
Assist with other GIS mapping, data, and reporting projects.
