Job summary

Craven County Government is seeking an intermediate to advanced GIS professional to map and update cadastral data and E911 information. The role emphasizes accurate ownership records, parcel boundary adjustments, and timely responses to public inquiries.

Responsibilities include operating ESRI ArcGIS Pro, updating land records, and coordinating with surveyors, attorneys, and other agencies. A degree in geography/planning or related field is favored, with NC driver’s license and mapper

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in GIS and related field.
Experience with GIS databases, deeds, plats, and land records is preferred.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license and ability to obtain certification as a Certified Property Mapper (within 2 years).

Responsibilities

Operate GIS software to create and maintain cadastral and E911 data.
Maintain GIS database and update parcel boundaries and ownership from deeds and plats.
Research and process legal documents (deeds, plats, surveys, easements) to update cadastral data.
Assign parcels to correct accounts, acreages, and tax districts.
Provide customer service for public map requests and inquiries.
Notify departments of changes to jurisdiction boundaries and addressing.
Maintain records of estates and essential plats; ensure accuracy of GIS maps.
