Job summary

Dallas ISD seeks a SPED Inclusion Teacher Assistant for grades 7-8 to support instructional delivery, materials preparation, and student supervision. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus one of: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, or pass an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification is required.
• Completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants or 6 months relevant work experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior characteristics.
• Ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to meet role goals.
• Initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Flexibility to cope with a rapidly changing environment.
• Willingness to stay current with latest developments in the field.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and prepare the space according to student needs.
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment.
• Assist students with physical disabilities, including transfers and positioning.
• Assist with personal care such as feeding, bathroom needs, and hygiene.
• Support classroom curriculum and behavior management, including crisis intervention.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground times.
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development.
