Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a Para Mentor to support paraprofessionals across district evaluations, offering coaching and feedback. The position resides in the Office of Educator Development and Leadership, reporting to BTU/BPS leaders.

It is a stipend role with travel between multiple school sites and a training component. Selected mentors will work with the BTU, participate in evaluation training, and provide guidance online or in person to improve paraprofessional performance and student

Qualifications

• Currently a Boston Public Schools employee.
• Minimum of 5 years of service in Boston Public Schools.
• Must have an evaluation rating of Meets or Exceeds Standard in all dimensions.
• Requires Grades K-0 to 12 classroom experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary mentor for paraprofessionals in their evaluations.
• Observe paraprofessionals and provide feedback from observation.
• Communicate regularly with paraprofessionals and offer coaching.
• Maintain confidentiality between mentor and paraprofessional.
• Identify professional development and other resources.
• Maintain a trusting, professional relationship with paraprofessionals.
• Provide support in areas where the paraprofessional does not meet standards.
• Counsel and provide individualized supports as needed.
• Provide feedback to administrators on areas worked with paraprofessionals.
• Attend evaluation, equity, and other training relevant to the mentor role.
