Job summary

CSL is seeking a medical professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and determine eligibility to donate.

Under supervision with the Center Medical Director, you will respond to medical questions, escalate critical cases to physicians, and ensure SOPs are followed for donor safety in a regulated plasma collection environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medications or treatments per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donation eligibility.
• Consult with Center Medical Director on donor suitability and respond to medically related questions.
• Review test results to determine ongoing donor suitability and assess symptoms affecting donation ability.
• Counsel donors on reactive test results and refer to community facilities for follow-up.
• Follow SOPs for routine care and escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical services as required.

Education

Paramedic/Nursing/Physician Assistant/Chiropractic/Medical School/Naturopathic Medical Training

Active physician licensure or state EMT certification (if graduation from foreign medical school)

State licensure or certification in NY or reciprocal state (RN/MD/DO)

Minimum 1 year healthcare experience

Experience in plasma or whole blood collection center or regulated environment preferred

Ability to perform physical assessments (heart, lungs, signs of drug use)
