Job summary

CSL Plasma in Haltom City, Texas is seeking a part-time Paramedic to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, and perform medical history reviews. The role requires licensure in a relevant field and one year of healthcare experience.

You will collaborate with the Center Medical Director, review test results, counsel on reactive results, and escalate critical cases to physicians as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also be licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT.
• For NY: licensure or certification as RN, MD or DO in the state of application or reciprocal state.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to assess heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including medications per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor suitability.
• In conjunction with Center Medical Director, respond to medical questions and advise staff on suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms affecting donation.
• Notify and counsel donors on reactive test results; refer donors for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local providers as required.
