Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Joliet, IL seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) with EMT-Paramedic licensure and CPR/AED certification. The role requires night and weekend availability, with shifts 5:00am–9:00pm on weekdays and 6:00am–5:00pm on weekends. Starting pay is $25/hr; final pay reflects experience and fit.

Reporting to the Center Manager, you will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and support center operations under physician guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to include graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and arrange donor transport to emergency care facilities as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER and EHS as needed.
• Pandemic Coordinator duties may be activated by EHS for investigations.
