Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Mount Pleasant, WI, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review lab results. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician for medical guidance and center operations.

Requirements include EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting, with training per BioLife program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, HIV education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, SPE review
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies with standing orders and donor transport
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues
• Support vaccination programs for employees (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) as applicable
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation
• Possibly act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS

Education
