Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review test results and support center operations under a center manager and physician guidance.

You will handle donor assessments, adverse event evaluations, and coordinate with Medical Affairs while contributing to EHS and vaccination programs within a plasma center setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and medical emergencies per SOPs and transport donors as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues and donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation per EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
