Qualifications

How you’ll contribute

A Paramedic who excels in this role:

  • Perform lab draws, EKGs. Take vital signs, place patients on monitors. Transport patients throughout the hospital.
  • Determines nature and extent of illness or injury and patient's history from available sources.
  • Administers emergency medical care within scope of practice, including patient stabilization, monitoring, and resuscitation, from the scene to receiving medical facility.
  • Contacts medical personnel, reports/records observations, and follows directives.
  • Maintains equipment, restocks supplies and cleans ambulance as necessary.
  • Interviews patients and/or caregivers to collect information regarding current home medications.
  • Utilizes appropriate equipment/accessories to collect information from outside sources (physician offices, retail pharmacies, family members) regarding home medications.
  • Contacts and communicates with other care providers (pharmacists, nurses, physicians, etc.) to facilitate the processing of home medication information.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current state paramedic license and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

  • Successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited paramedic education program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of field experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 60 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred.
  • Handle With Care (HWC) within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
