Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced EMT-Paramedic to provide emergency medical services in the ED and stabilise patients according to hospital policy. This role requires pediatric-focused care and collaboration with ED physicians and staff.

Certified EMT-Paramedic with CPR/BLS; PALS within 18 months of hire; 1 year of pediatric patient care and 1 year field EMT-Paramedic experience preferred. Night shifts and weekend rotations are expected.

Qualifications

  • EMT-Paramedic licensure is required.
  • Current CPR certification; BLS for healthcare providers required.
  • PALS within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year pediatric patient care experience.
  • Minimum 1 year field experience as EMT-Paramedic preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition and provide emergency medical care, monitoring and adjusting treatment as necessary.
  • Administer medications and perform advanced procedures per ED staff or physician.
  • Assist with patient transport between ED and other hospital facilities.
  • Maintain and operate emergency care equipment and supplies.
  • Collaborate with staff, vendors, consultants and physicians to ensure quality patient care.
  • Maintain and report accurate patient care documentation.

Job Description Summary

Provides emergency medical services and treatment to Emergency Department (ED) patients. Evaluates and stabilizes patients in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Essential Functions:
  • Assesses the patient's condition and provides appropriate emergency medical care, monitoring and adjusting treatment as necessary.
  • Administers medications and performs advanced medical procedures as directed by ED nursing staff or the physician.
  • Assists with the transport of patients between the ED and other NCH medical facilities.
  • Maintains and operates equipment and supplies needed for emergency care.
