Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks an EMT-Paramedic to provide emergency medical care in the Pediatric ED. Night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with every third weekend and holiday rotations.

This part-time role offers benefits eligibility at 24 hours per week; compensation is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • State of Ohio EMT-Paramedic certification required.
  • Current CPR Certification and BLS required.
  • PALS within 18 months of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition and provide emergency care and monitoring.
  • Administer medications and perform advanced procedures as directed by ED staff.
  • Assist with patient transport between the ED and other facilities.
  • Maintain equipment and document patient care accurately.

Overview

12-24 hrs/week, nights, 7p-7a, every third weekend rotation, holiday rotation. Pay to commensurate with experience. Benefits eligible at 24 hrs/week. Not eligible for benefits at 12 hrs/week.

Job Description Summary

Provides emergency medical services and treatment to Emergency Department (ED) patients. Evaluates and stabilizes patients in accordance with hospital and departmental policy.

Essential Functions

Assesses the patient's condition and provides appropriate emergency medical care, monitoring and adjusting treatment as necessary. Administers medications and performs advanced medical procedures as directed by ED nursing staff or the physician. Assists with the transport of patients between the ED and other NCH medical facilities. Maintains and operates equipment and supplies needed for emergency care. Collaborates with staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians to ensure quality patient care. Maintains and reports accurate patient care documentation.

Education Requirement

As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement. Licensure Requirement: (not specified) Certifications: Certified by the State of Ohio as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, required. Current CPR Certification. BLS for healthcare provider, required. PALS within 18 months of hire, required.

One year of pediatric patient care experience, required. One year of field experience as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, preferred.
