Job summary

Dover, OH — Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital is seeking a Paramedic to deliver immediate care in the Emergency Department under RN supervision. This full-time role requires 3 shifts of 12 hours (11:00am–11:30pm) with holiday and weekend rotations, enabling fast, critical decision-making to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include vital signs, EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, cardiac monitoring, and supporting transport and sterile procedures. Ohio EMTP licensure and BLS/ACLS/PALS are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program.
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications through the AHA or Red Cross.
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of an RN.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, CPR and phlebotomy and oral, nasal and/or ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens.
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning/maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Perform fluid/drug administration.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program


• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio


• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross


• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification


• One year of experience as an EMT-P

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.


• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.00

Maximum hourly: $32.00
