Position Overview

This program is designed for newly licensed Paramedics, offering additional didactic and critical care exposure, with hands-on hospital-based care of acutely ill patients. Clinical experiences include the Adult Emergency Department, Trauma, Medical, and Neuro ICUs, to promote a comprehensive understanding of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as part of the healthcare team.
• Transport patients and deliver ALS and Critical Care management across all ages.
• Respond to emergency requests within Vanderbilt and at sponsored or contracted events.
• Utilize assessment skills to activate patient care protocols within the Tennessee paramedic scope of practice.
• Communicate effectively during patient handovers.

Shift Details

Work three 12-hour shifts weekly, with options for Day (7a-7p) or Night (7p-7a) shifts, including evening, night, and weekend shifts with differential pay. Weekend shifts include working Saturday and Sunday every other week.

Qualifications

• Licensure: Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic, Tennessee Driver’s License with F Endorsement.
• Experience: 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Candidates should demonstrate foundational proficiency in ventilator management, airway establishing, medication management, and patient assessment, with an ability to work under supervision and communicate effectively.
