Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking an Emergency Services Tech to respond to EMS calls and hospital codes, delivering advanced medical care and pre-hospital support across states. You will assess patients and determine treatment within state scope of practice.

Required are paramedic or RN licensure, Minnesota/Wisconsin dual licensure, and BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications with up to 6 months to obtain PALS if needed. A hybrid work option may apply.

Qualifications

• State licensure/certification as a Paramedic or RN to operate as a Paramedic.
• Dual licensure in Minnesota and Wisconsin for West markets.
• BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required at or within 6 months of hire.
• Must have valid driver license and meet insurer driving criteria.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergent and non-emergent calls; provide advanced medical care and BLS/ALS.
• Assist in ongoing patient assessment to determine best treatment.
• Provide care in accordance with state scope of practice.

Job Description

Responds to all emergent and non-emergent calls and/or hospital codes; provides medical support and care for patients in the pre-hospital and/or hospital environment. Assists in the ongoing assessment of patients by identifying the patient’s needs and requirements to determine best course of treatment. Provides advanced medical care and basic life support service to patients using appropriate medical equipment, devices and treatment modalities. Provides care in accordance with the scope of care authorized in the State in which they are operating.

Education Qualifications

Required Qualifications: State Background check must provide clearance to work with vulnerable adults

Driving Requirements

Must have 2 years drivers experience (MVR)

Over 75 years of age require medical permission

Drivers 21 years and older with Paramedic licensure, must meet MVR requirements

Drivers 18-20 with Paramedic licensure, must meet MVR requirements of Young Driver Probation AND will be placed in Young Driver Probation (MVR every 6 months and completed probation form)

East, Brainerd Lakes, West Markets: (Except for West-Fargo department 12501 - does not require these items to be listed in Work Experience) NIMS 100, 200, 700 Over 75, need to have medical permission

Licensure/Certification Qualifications: All Markets: State licensure/certification as a Paramedic or a Registered Nurse authorized to operate as a Paramedic in the appropriate state of practice. All Wisconsin location staff must be dual licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification required at time of hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification required at time of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (or must obtain within 6 months of hire) Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health 's insurer For West-Fargo department 3010-3012500 Emergency Services Tech - 32nd Hosp only: State licensure/certification as a Paramedic in the appropriate state of practice or able to obtain within 1 month of employment Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification within 1 month of hire Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (or must obtain within 6 months of hire)
