Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Paramedic for the Winona, MN area. 1.0 FTE, 8am–8pm scheduling with 5 days on / 2 days off, weekend and holiday adjustments. Starting pay between $19.28–$31.59/hour based on experience, with on-site work.

The Paramedic will perform patient assessments, administer care per protocols, and support EMT/Paramedic teams at the scene and during transport. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain required paramedic licenses and certifications.
• Active MN and WI paramedic licenses essential.
• NREMT-P status required or equivalent.
• AHA ACLS, PALS, and BLS CPR certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-hospital emergency care according to established medical protocols.
• Perform triage and a variety of emergency medical treatments at the BLS level.
• Provide continuing care and treatment during transport to an emergency facility; monitor patient condition.
• Execute invasive and non-invasive therapies per protocols and DOT knowledge objectives.
• Drive ambulance to scenes and transport patients to hospitals.
• Maintain ambulance, equipment and station; keep logs of activities.
• Serve as a preceptor for EMS students and new staff.
• Manage radio communications professionally in all situations.

Position Overview:

The Paramedic is a health care professional who assists and provides guidance to their EMT or Paramedic partner in the delivery of patient care. The duties of the Paramedic are primarily performing patient assessments and interventions in accordance with the medic protocols. The Paramedic is competent to provide care to patients of all ages (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatric).

• Provide pre-hospital emergency care according to established medical protocols.
• Perform triage and a variety of emergency medical treatments at the Basic Life Support level.
• Provide continuing care and treatment while in route to an emergency medical facility; monitor and report changes in patient condition.
• Under medical direction and following prescribed standing orders perform a variety of invasive and non-invasive therapies including but not limited to: assessment and evaluation of the ill and injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, administration of medications, agents and solutions, pulmonary ventilation, application of dressing and bandages, control of shock, immobilization of fractures, and all other skills contained within the Department of Transportation manual of knowledge objectives for Paramedics.
• Drive the ambulance to emergency scenes and transport patients to hospitals.
• Employ safe lifting and moving techniques.Maintain ambulance vehicle, equipment, and station.
• Act as a preceptor for EMS students and new employees.
• Handle radio communications during emergency and non-emergency situations professionally.
• Keep records and logs on daily activities.
• Perform other related job duties as assigned.

• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS CPR)
• Coaching Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) or equivalent course
• NIMS 100, 200, and 700

Preferred:

• One year of Emergency Medical Services experience
