Tenderloin Housing in San Francisco, CA seeks a Paralegal to support the legal office, interview clients, prepare responses to discovery, subpoenas, and organize document productions. The role includes court filings preparation and basic litigation support.

You will greet clients, assess eligibility for services, arrange appearances and meetings, and assist with special projects under supervisor, with a strong focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and timely work in a non-profit setting.

Qualifications

• Requires High School degree; BA preferred.
• Thorough working knowledge of electronic filing systems in state court; federal court filing knowledge preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Reader.
• Ability to work independently and be detail oriented.
• Must manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with accuracy.
• Experience with diverse populations preferred.
• Experience with preparation and filing of legal documents under time-sensitive conditions.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to present information clearly to clients and the public.
• Proactive self-starter who can take initiative.
• Background checks and TB screening required.
• Non-profit/public sector experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Paralegal duties including interviewing clients to prepare responses to discovery, preparing and sending subpoenas, organizing document responses, obtaining public records.
• Photocopying & faxing.
• Extensive filing, including creating new filing systems.
• Assist with special projects as needed.
• Litigation support including preparing documents for court filings.
• Greet clients, determine need for legal services, and refer to other services when necessary.
• Limited tenant counseling under supervision of lawyer.
• Arrange and schedule court appearances, depositions, conferences and meetings.
• Represent the agency in a professional manner.
• Additional duties as assigned.
