Overview

Collections Paralegal — JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a full-service law firm in search of a Collections Paralegal to join its team. The Collections Paralegal should have experience in creditor rights, debt collection litigation, and judgment enforcement. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and have experience with document management software, NYCEF filing and related programs.

Location: Rochester, NY

Base pay range

$50,000.00/yr - $72,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of collection files, including commercial and consumer accounts, ensuring timely and accurate case progression.
  • Draft, prepare, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents related to collection matters.
  • Conduct thorough review of client documentation to confirm claim validity and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Coordinate service of process, court filings (both electronic and in-person), and related deadlines.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and debtors to facilitate resolution.
  • Monitor case calendars, track statute of limitations, and ensure compliance with procedural requirements.
  • Prepare settlement agreements, payment plans, and satisfaction of judgment documents.
  • Support attorneys in trial preparation and hearings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate billing records and case status updates in the firm’s case management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of paralegal experience in collections, creditors’ rights, or litigation.
  • Knowledge of New York State and federal debt collection laws and court procedures.
  • Proficiency in e-filing systems (NYSCEF).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal case management software preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • $50k - $72k
