Job summary

Centinela Valley Union High School District is seeking substitute paraeducators on call to support students with disabilities under supervision of teachers and administrators.

Duties include instructional and behavioral support, personal care, classroom organization, safety, and assisting with management; require HS diploma and paraeducator exam; open until filled.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; Passing the Paraeducator Competency Examination.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience working with special needs students.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an administrator and teacher, assist in instructional support and behavioral support for students with disabilities.
• Provide personal care, supervision, and support with classroom organization, safety, and hygiene.
• Assist in behavioral modification and management of students to support learning.

Range 28; Schedule M; Step 1: $21.54 Hourly

Type Of Recruitment

This is an OPEN recruitment to establish a list of substitutes for the classification of Paraeducator.

No effort will be made to maintain a rank order of the applicants (P.C. Rule 60.100.5).

Testing Procedure

The examination process will consist of a written examination. Applications will be screened on a regular basis, and testing will be scheduled throughout the year as needed.

Applicants will be notified of their application status via email.

Description

Under the direction of an administrator and general direction of a classroom teacher and specialist, assist in the instructional support, behavioral support, personal care, and supervision of students with a wide range of disabilities. Provide intensive individualized services; participate in behavioral modification and management of students; assist students with and demonstrate proper physical care and hygienic needs; provide support with classroom organization, management, and safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Passing the Paraeducator Competency Examination.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience working with special needs students.
