Snohomish School District is hiring a temporary Paraeducator B for Developmental Preschool (2026-2027). Under the Building Administrator and Special Education Teacher, you will support students with individualized and small group instruction, focusing on access to education through academic help, behavior management, and fostering independence.

This position requires collaboration with staff to implement necessary accommodations per IEP, with assignments made based on current needs.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, and meet one of the following:
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; or
• Passed one of the following approved assessments: ETS ParaPro, Para Pathways, Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment, or Master Teacher Paraeducator Training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with individualized and small group instruction for Developmental Preschool students (ages 3-5).
• Provide direct support to students to access education through academic support, behavior management, and fostering independence.
• Collaborate with Building Administrator, Special Education Teacher and other staff to implement accommodations and strategies per IEP.

Job Summary:Under the direction of the Building Administrator and Special Education Teacher, will assist with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Paraeducators assist students with the unique needs outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP). This vital role involves providing direct support to students, helping them access their education through academic support, behavior management, and fostering independence. While you may work one-on-one with a student or within small groups, it is important to note that assignments are not fixed to specific students. Staff members are assigned based on current needs and teacher discretion, which allows us to adapt and reassign support to maximize effectiveness for all students. This position requires effective collaboration with other staff to implement necessary accommodations and strategies that promote student success. This is a temporary position expected to continue through June14, 2027, or until the position is no longer needed based on student needs, whichever occurs first.
Students Served: Developmental Preschool students, ages 3-5, have moderate to significant delays in one or more of the 5 developmental areas: motor, communication, personal social skills, adaptive skills or cognition.

Salary Range: $28.91 - $32.84/hour Paraeducator B per 2026-27 Public School Employees Salary Schedule
Above pay rates do not include holiday and pay in lieu of vacation, which increases the hourly compensation.
Work Schedule:

• Dates Needed: Now - June 14, 2027 (This is a temporary position for the 2026-2027 school year.)
• Shift: Monday through Thursday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:15p.m.
• Lunch Break: 30 minutes unpaid break
• Calendar: 9 months/year; enjoy time off during spring break, winter break and summer, plus 10 paid holidays

Qualifications:

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, and meet one (1) of the following:
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
  • Passed one of the following Professional Educator Standards Board approved assessments:
    • ETS ParaPro Assessment Score of 455 or higher ( https://www.ets.org/parapro )
    • Para Pathways Score of 324 in Reading and Writing and a Score of 325 in Mathematics
    • Pearson Paraprofessional AssessmentScore of 220 or higher
    • Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Training Program Score of 65% or higher
• Upon hire, must completethe Fundamental Course of Study (FCS)-Paraeducator Certificate.
• Ability to meet the qualifications as listed on the job description for this position.
