Job summary

Snohomish School District is seeking a paraeducator to assist with individualized and small group instruction for students with physical or behavioral needs, including those who are medically fragile. Services are aligned with IEP goals and require collaboration with teachers and staff to maximize student success.

The position is temporary, through June 14, 2027, with a Monday-Thursday schedule 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., totaling 6.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, and meet one of the following options.
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher; or
• Pass one of the approved assessments: ParaPro, Para Pathways, Pearson Paraprofessional, Master Teacher Paraeducator Training, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with individualized and small group instruction for students with IEPs.
• Support students with academic tasks, behavior management, and fostering independence.
• Collaborate with staff to implement accommodations and strategies for student success.
• Assignments are flexible, based on current needs and teacher discretion.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Building Administrator and Special Education Teacher, will assist with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Paraeducators assist students with the unique needs outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP). This vital role involves providing direct support to students, helping them access their education through academic support, behavior management, and fostering independence. While you may work one-on-one with a student or within small groups, it is important to note that assignments are not fixed to specific students. Staff members are assigned based on current needs and teacher discretion, which allows us to adapt and reassign support to maximize effectiveness for all students. This position requires effective collaboration with other staff to implement necessary accommodations and strategies that promote student success. This is a temporary position expected to continue through June14, 2027, or until the position is no longer needed based on student needs, whichever occurs first.

Students Served

Developmental Preschool students, ages 3-5, have moderate to significant delays in one or more of the 5 developmental areas: motor, communication, personal social skills, adaptive skills or cognition.

Salary Range

$28.91 – $32.84/hour Paraeducator B per 2026-27 Public School Employees Salary Schedule
Above pay rates do not include holiday and pay in lieu of vacation, which increases the hourly compensation .

Work Schedule

• Dates Needed: Now – June 14, 2027 (This is a temporary position for the 2026-2027 school year.)
• Shift: Monday through Thursday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
• Paid Hours: 6.5 hours per day
• Lunch Break: 30 minutes unpaid break
• Calendar: 9 months/year; enjoy time off during spring break, winter break and summer, plus 10 paid holidays

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, ++and++ meet one (1) of the following:
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or
• Passed one of the following Professional Educator Standards Board approved assessments:
• ETS ParaPro Assessment Score of 455 or higher (https://www.ets.org/parapro)
• Para Pathways Score of 324 in Reading and Writing and a Score of 325 in Mathematics
• Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment Score of 220 or higher
• Master Teacher Inc. Paraeducator Training Program Score of 65% or higher
• Upon hire, must complete the Fundamental Course of Study (FCS)-Paraeducator Certificate.
• Ability to meet the qualifications as listed on the job description for this position.
