Georgia-Pacific's Brewton mill seeks a Department Manager to lead two paper machines and a team of 160+ employees. This role partners with the Paper Production Leader to drive safety, reliability, quality, and cost objectives, emphasizing continuous improvement and urgent problem solving.

The candidate will shape safety culture, coach leaders, and implement initiatives across production, quality, and maintenance while advancing organizational growth and capability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 8+ years in pulp & paper manufacturing OR 10+ years in pulp & paper manufacturing operations.
• Experience developing and implementing improvement processes and projects.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and equipment operation interfacing with maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of two paper machines at the Brewton mill.
• Direct a team of 6 salaried direct reports and oversee 160+ employees overall.
• Drive safety and environmental excellence and cost-reduction through process/equipment optimization.
• Plan outages and routine maintenance with a focus on productivity and quality.
