Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Paper Area Operating Superintendent to oversee the paper machine and drive safety, quality and production targets. This role leads a team of operators and maintenance staff, applying strong technical knowledge of papermaking processes to keep operations efficient.

You will monitor performance, implement improvements, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations while coaching supervisors to reach their full potential.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in paper manufacturing with focus on paper machine operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of papermaking processes and paper machine equipment.
• Prior supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership and team development.
• Commitment to safety and environmental regulations in manufacturing.
• Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of the paper machine to meet safety, quality and production targets.
• Monitor machine performance and address production issues with corrective actions.
• Manage maintenance to meet availability targets and drive capital project ideas.
• Implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations and cost plans.
• Coach and train supervisors and hourly operators to maximize potential.
• Investigate root causes of issues and address customer feedback.
• Review production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
