Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas, the world’s largest HVAC company, is hiring for a sheet metal manufacturing role in Faribault. You will read blueprints, assemble panels, inspect quality, and operate tools and reading systems (DocVu, VKS, AMS) in a climate‑controlled facility.

Starting wage is $27.63 per hour, with a $2.30 per hour premium for 2nd shift. Shifts include 2nd shift 5pm-3:30am or weekend Fri-Sun; some overtime. Benefits: PTO, health/dental/vision, 401K, tuition reimbursement, and more.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches or product specifications.
• English literacy to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift, push and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to use hand tools and operate basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches or product specifications to determine sequence and methods.
• Visually inspect incoming sheet metal to ensure quality.
• Spot weld, bolt, rivet, screw, clip, caulk or bond components to assemble panels.
• Inspect assemblies for conformance to specifications.
• Operate computer equipment to read drawings (DocVu, VKS, AMS).
• Perform basic maintenance as needed.
• Coordinate workflow and communications to meet production needs.
• Train new members on machines, procedures, safety and quality.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping in the work area.
• Follow HOMESafe and company safety requirements.
• Identify and rework defective pieces to meet quality.
• Use hand tools; operate PIT and obtain PIT license.
• All other duties as assigned.

Your Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blue prints, sketches or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal products, including machine adjustments and material requirements per engineering requirements.
• Visually inspect incoming sheet metal material to ensure product meets quality standards.
• Spot weld, bolt, rives, screw, clip, caulk or bond component parts to assemble panels.
• Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
• Operate computer equipment to read drawings of product or system including DocVu, VKS and AMS.
• Perform basic maintenance functions according to equipment needs.
• Coordinate work flow, paperwork and communications to meet production needs, as directed by the team leader or supervisor.
• Train new members on the various machines, procedures, safe work practices and any pertinent items regarding safety, quality and production.
• Responsible for maintaining the 5s program to ensure a clean work area.
• Follow and understand HOMESafe, Personal Choice and company safety manual requirements.
• Identify and rework defective work pieces to comply with quality standards.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Operate PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks), obtain PIT License.
• All other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

• The ability to lift, push, and/or pull materials, stand for majority of the shift, and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining proper PPE.
• The ability to use hand tools for extended periods of time.
• The ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• High School Education/GED OR Minimum 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
