Job Description And Position Requirements

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

Work Shift: (M-F) 8a-4:30p.

Summary of the Job:

To provide medical assistance to the providers in a professional manner and to provide for patients in a caring, efficient and compassionate manner. To handle patient phone calls and care for patients in the office. Assist with refills and prior authorizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program preferred or equivalent on the job training consisting of 3 or more years.
  • Two to five years’ experience in a physician office setting preferred.
  • Must have good working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
  • Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off.
  • Provider office experience preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain composure under difficult and stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Displays tact and diplomacy in inter-personal skills.

Physical Demands:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort required:

Constant (67%-100%) - handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing

Frequently (34%-66%) - reaching

Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching
