Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Painter to maintain the appearance and condition of our large nursing home facility. The Painter will be responsible for painting, touch-ups, and surface repairs throughout the property, helping to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and scheduled painting projects throughout the facility, including resident rooms, hallways, common areas, dining rooms, offices, and exterior surfaces.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, and priming as needed.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers.
- Conduct minor drywall, plaster, and surface repairs prior to painting.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following health and safety regulations specific to healthcare and residential settings.
- Minimize disruption to residents by coordinating work around daily activities and maintaining a quiet, respectful presence.
- Maintain an inventory of painting supplies and materials; notify supervisor when stock needs replenishing.
- Ensure all work complies with facility policies and healthcare regulations.
- Work closely with maintenance staff and report any structural or safety issues discovered while performing duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of professional painting experience, preferably in a healthcare or residential setting.
- Understanding of safety procedures and materials used in occupied, healthcare-related environments.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills and a courteous, resident-focused attitude.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a nursing home, hospital, or assisted living facility.
- Basic drywall and plaster repair.
- Knowledge of low-VOC or non-toxic paints and coatings used in healthcare settings.
Work Environment
- Indoor and occasional outdoor work in an occupied healthcare facility.
- Frequent interaction with elderly residents and staff.
- Must follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines.
