Description

Performs paint application to structural parts, components and subsystems for aircraft applications using products and processes that are moderately complex in scope to apply various primer and topcoat paint systems to aircraft parts consistent with government, customer, and company standards.

Shift Time for this position is 3:00pm - 11:00pm Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Functions
  • Follows National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) requirements.
  • Selects, prepares, and mixes coatings per specifications.
  • Prepares and masks parts with fixtures, rubber, and tape prior to coating.
  • Sets up and operates various types of spray systems.
  • HVLP spray primers and topcoats to Mil specs and thicknesses.
  • Sets bake/cure oven controls for correct temperature and records time.
  • Removes masking, cleans overspray.
  • Inspects surfaces visually for defects and compliance prior to and after applying coating.
  • Performs inspection, measuring, and testing on part surfaces of in-process and finished work utilizing precision measuring equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains spray/coating equipment and fixtures.
  • Disposes of trash, scrap, and hazardous waste in an appropriate manner.
  • Removes grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces using abrasives, solvents, and brushes or washing tanks to prepare to apply paint.
  • Performs any pickup, rework, and incorporation of changes to the product as required.
  • Moves product within the manufacturing work area of the shop, including across aisles, using assigned equipment and complete transactions necessary to move product to the next operation.
  • Supports the continuous flow of products within the manufacturing process by training and assisting employees of the same or lower classification level.
  • Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solves problems as pertains to the paint process.
  • Ensures daily logs are completed prior to paint operations.
Additional Duties
  • Compliance with governing regulations including but not limited to BAC, OSHA, and customer specifications.
  • Meet job functions as evident by skills matrix.
  • Provide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
  • Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.
  • Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • This role requires the use of a properly fit tested respirator clear of impeding facial hair.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years overall production experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated industry (aerospace).
  • Ability to work from prints, sketches, specifications, and written/verbal instruction.
  • Can match or detect differences among colors, including shades of color and brightness.
  • Ability to remain steady while moving an arm or while holding arm and hand in position.
  • See details at close range.
  • Make precise movements of the fingers to grasp, manipulate or assemble small objects.
  • Ability to quickly move hand, hand with armor two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and plan accordingly.
  • Strong technical and mechanical ability.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Team and individually goal oriented.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement.
  • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
  • Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
  • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.
