Job summary

Advocate Health’s Wake Forest Baptist division seeks a dedicated Medical Assistant to support the Pain Medicine clinic. You will prepare patients, perform laboratory procedures, assist with procedures, and administer routine medications under physician guidance.

You will ensure smooth clinic flow, maintain patient safety, and communicate effectively with the care team. BLS and MA certification are required, with 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant program from an accredited school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from CMA, CCMA, NCMA, RMA, NCMSMA, NRCMA, NRMA, or NRMA is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures (e.g., strep test, wound culture) using aseptic techniques.
• Assists physician/APP with procedures such as pelvic exams, scratch testing, EMG, colposcopy.
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Facilitates referrals and communicates with the care team to maintain clinic flow.
• Communicates clearly with patients and healthcare team; ensures patient comfort and safety.
• May perform basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG, spirometry under supervision.
