Job summary

Advocate Health (Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center area) seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient exams, collect vitals, perform basic lab tasks, and assist clinicians in procedures. Must complete an accredited MA program and hold a current MA certification set (CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA or equivalents). Strong communication and computer skills required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
• Licensure/Certification required: CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA variants as listed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam; records vital signs and health information.
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection control.
• Assists physicians with procedures (e.g., pelvic exams, EMG, cautery, colposcopy).
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols.
• Follows care algorithms and coordinates referrals with other facilities as needed.
• Communicates with physicians and health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow.
• Under supervision, may perform basic/advanced clinical support tasks (e.g., sutures removal, phlebotomy).
• Provide age-appropriate care and adapt to patient needs as described in policies.
