Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center - Pain Management department in North Carolina. The role involves patient prep, vital signs, specimen collection, and assisting physicians with various procedures in a 40-hour workweek.

The position requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program, BLS certification, and CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA-type credentials. Aggressive emphasis on patient care and efficient clinic operations is expected.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• CMA/CCMA/NCMA/RMA/NRCMA/NRMA/NHCA/NTHS CMA-type certifications listed in job description
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient computer skills including EMR navigation and keyboarding

Responsibilities

• Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting pertinent health information
• Performs laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and infection control guidelines
• Assists physicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy
• Administers routine medications under orders or standing protocols
• Coordinates patient flow, referrals, and test requests with clinicians
• Communicates with the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic operations and patient communication
• Performs basic/advanced clinical support tasks under supervision as applicable
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific care and developmental considerations
