Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC invites nursing students to join a 10-week Student Nurse Externship Program. The SNE I role partners with an RN to gain hands-on, supervised patient care experience in a fast-paced Med-Surg setting.

Applicants are prelicensure students enrolled in an accredited program, with NC health system exposure preferred. The program runs May 24–July 31, offering 40 hours per week and a $18.00 hourly rate, onsite at Rex 6 East Short Stay Unit.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English, verbal and written.
• Current enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.
• Active Nursing Assistant I certification and BLS as required.

Responsibilities

• Observe, collect, document patient information and report changes.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide direct care per plan of care, including vital signs, basic treatments, and ADLs.
• Support daily operations: clean, restock supplies, transport items and assist with staffing.
