Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited prelicensure nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months from start of externship.
• High School Diploma or GED completed.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Observes, collects, and documents patient information and reports changes to a RN or provider.
• Assists patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge processes.
• Performs care/treatments per plan of care, including vital signs, wound care, and basic procedures.
• Provides direct personal care for activities of daily living.
• Performs indirect care such as cleaning, restocking supplies, and transporting items.
• Reinforces patient teaching and ensures patient understanding.
• Assists during examinations/procedures and supports equipment procurement.
• In psychiatric settings, aids in orientation, behavior plans, de-escalation, and milieu management.
