Job summary

Halff is seeking a Public Works Intern for our Lubbock, TX office to assist on Public Works and Transportation projects. The internship runs from June 7, 2027 through August 13, 2027, and interns are paid hourly for a 40-hour week.

Under supervision of a Professional Engineer, you will assist with plans, specs, cost estimates, CAD drafting, design calculations, permit applications, and coordination with surveyors, architects, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent.
• Great communication skills.
• Solid relationship and team-building skills.
• Self-motivated and strong organization skills.

Responsibilities

• Design civil engineering projects under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist in plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Public Works and Transportation projects.
• Perform drafting CAD work.
• Perform calculations and analysis for design projects.
• Assist in permit applications and other regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, and contractors.
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
