Job summary

The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology at the University of Florida is seeking a motivated HR Intern to support HR operations in a biomedical research and academic environment. This paid in-person internship offers exposure to recruitment, onboarding, benefits, records management, and process improvement projects within a collaborative HR team.

The position is part-time, 20 hours per week or less, scheduled Monday through Friday, with a flexible

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in human resources, higher education, biomedical research administration, or related fields.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR information with professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Support HR administrative functions, including recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and records management.
• Assist with special projects to improve HR processes, workflows, and service quality.
• Support International Services with immigration-related HR processes as needed.
• Collaborate with HR team to identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Research, compile, and analyze HR-related information and inquiries.
• Monitor and triage incoming HR emails and route requests to the appropriate team member.
