Job summary

The Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives at H.B. Fuller's South Bend, Indiana facility.

This role provides exposure to process engineering, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities within a chemical manufacturing environment. The intern will partner closely with Process Engineers, Production, EHS, and Plant Leadership teams to improve process documentation, support productivity projects, and ensure

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum rising junior or senior in relevant engineering fields.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple assignments in a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD or technical drawing software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering projects focused on process improvement, productivity enhancements, and operational excellence within a manufacturing facility.
• Review, verify, and update P&IDs through field observations and AutoCAD revisions.
• Evaluate opportunities for productivity and cost-savings by analyzing operational data, KPIs, and project requirements, assisting planning and execution.
• Review and update SOPs to ensure accuracy and alignment with site practices and safety requirements.
• Partner with Engineering, Production, EHS, and Site Leadership to provide project updates and contribute to plant objectives.
