Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in New Berlin, WI is seeking a climbing arborist trainee. The office is outdoors, with an on-site role that offers hands-on training while you learn climbing, pruning, and removal skills as part of a tree crew.

You’ll learn to operate equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts while following safety guidelines; career progression depends on demonstrated ability and safety.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and become part of a tree crew, while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
• Identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
• Progression depends on performance.
