Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in New Berlin, WI is looking for a climbing arborist trainee. This role offers outdoor work, hands-on learning, and growth within a nationally recognized tree care firm.

You will train on safe climbing techniques, pruning, and removal, while supporting the crew with equipment operation and safety protocols. This entry-level position emphasizes skill development and career advancement.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Forestry, horticulture or landscaping background preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
• Perform pruning and removal tasks safely and skillfully.
• Identify trees and apply pruning guidelines.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers.
