Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in New Berlin, WI is seeking a climbing arborist trainee to join our on-site tree care team. You will learn climbing, pruning, and removal techniques while working with a crew under safety guidelines.

As an intern, you will complete the Davey Tree orientation program on hire, receive hands-on training, and have opportunities to advance within a large, employee-owned organization. The role is on-site with travel up to 25% possible.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and outdoor work interest.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Must complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Must complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and join a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn tree identification and pruning guidelines; perform pruning, thinning and removal of deadwood.
• Learn to install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and maintain all tools and equipment.
• Your growth depends on your effort and safety.
