Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across grade levels to promote academic success, attendance, and positive behavior. You will plan and monitor progress while partnering with teachers on in-class instruction and after-school activities.

Pursue 2-4 weeks of training at year start; receive a bi-weekly stipend and comprehensive benefits, plus opportunities for further education support and relocation help.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or mentoring students is a plus, but training is provided.
• Ability to support academic and interpersonal development within a classroom setting.
• Strong collaboration with teachers and staff to monitor student progress.

Responsibilities

• Support 1:1 and small group work with identified students.
• Help develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Help implement a behavior management system for students.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily routines and reflection.
• Collaborate to collect and monitor student progress in City Year data system.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with teachers.
• Support extended-day and after-school programs and clubs.
